I.- Rèl tè a ak rèl pòv yo

Jodi a, tè nou an ap plenyen nan kè l. Depi nan Plèn Kil De Sak rive nan kwen ki pi blese nan Lwès, nan Sant ak nan Latibonit, peyi nou an tounen yon teren antrenman pou laterè. Frè ak sè nou yo, yo rache nan kay yo, ap fè moute desann, san yo pa gen yon kote pou yo kache kò yo.

Nan peyi Ayiti, sanble lanmo tounen yon règ pou moun viv,  ak vyolans ki sèl modpas nou. Nou tounen yon sèn teyat, kote moun toupatou griyen dan sou nou, e jwenn plezi nan sa. Nou tounen  yon pèp kote enterè pèsonèl ak egoyis pase anvan enterè tout lòt moun. Pov yo, ki se potre Bondye, trete kounyeya a tankou yon pakèt vye rad sal pou jete nan fatra. Yon peyi ki pa respekte ni moun, ni Bondye, ni Legliz, se yon nasyon k ap kouri toudwat nan lanmè kote li pral peri. Jan Pawol Bondye a raple nou sa: « Malere a rele, Bondye koute l, epi li sove l anba tout tray li yo » (Sòm 34, 6).

Good morning,

I would like to thank the Georgetown Law Human Rights Institute for centering this year’s Samuel Dash Conference on Haiti. Thank you, Elisa Massimino for this invitation – knowing that my presentation would have to be virtual: I’m coming to you this morning from our campus auditorium at UNIFA the university that President Aristide founded in 2002, located in Tabarre, just outside the capital Port-au-Prince.

A special thanks to Brian Concannon, co-founder of the Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti, friend of over 25 years, colleague to Mario Joseph (&Dagger March 31st, 2025), that most courageous defender of human rights in Haiti – so needed in this moment – of whom he spoke so eloquently. Your collaboration with Georgetown Law brings this important legal and moral issue of reparations for Haiti to a new generation of law students. 📂 Le cri d’alarme de l’Église Catholique sur la situation du pays pour demander la paix et la concorde nationale.

« Aujourd’hui, si vous entendez la voix du Seigneur, ne fermez pas votre cœur. »
(Lettre aux Hébreux 3, 15)

À nos frères et sœurs,

Aux hommes et aux femmes de bonne volonté,

Profondément troublés par la situation politique et sécuritaire qui prévaut actuellement dans notre pays, et surtout par l’intensification des actes de violence en divers endroits de la zone métropolitaine, Nous, Évêques Catholiques d’Haïti (CEH), élevons une fois de plus la voix pour appeler à la paix et à la concorde nationale.Fidèles à notre mission prophétique, nous dénonçons cette spirale de destruction et de souffrance, ces actes qui causent la mort de tant d’innocents, le déplacement massif des populations et une angoisse généralisée. En ces jours sombres, ils sont nombreux nos frères et sœurs qui vivent sous la terreur des armes, privés de leurs droits fondamentaux, notamment le droit à la sécurité, à la vie et à la liberté de mouvement. Même les avions n’ont pas été épargnés. La fermeture de l’aéroport Toussaint Louverture nous isole du reste du monde. La Capitale est enclavée, les écoles sont fermées. Les activités sont paralysées. Il n’y a pas de véritable vie dans le pays.

Cette situation est inacceptable. Elle est la conséquence d’actes contraires au dessein de salut de Dieu et à la dignité humaine. Ces maux aggravent la misère du peuple déjà frappé par des défis économiques et sociaux énormes. Nous ne pouvons rester indifférents face à cette tragédie. (suite…)

Peyi a malad. Pèp la bouke, li mande sekou. E kisa otorite yo ap fè? Y ap fè reyinyon, y ap vwayaje pou al pale de fòs miltinasyonal ki deja anplas depi kèk mwa, san pèsonn pa wè yon chanjman ou yon alemye.
