The Catholic Bishops of Ohio in the United States (USA) published, this Thursday, September 19, 2024, a letter to show their solidarity with the Haitians who are living in a situation that could escalate into persecution, being, for some days now, the target of backbiting of bad faith politicians and being threatened by their followers. While noting the legal situation of the Haitians living in Springfield, most of whom “have been granted Temporary Protected Status, a humane federal program that protects foreign nationals from deportation to unsafe home countries”, the bishops in this letter ask that these compatriots be afforded the respect and dignity that are theirs by right.
